‘Czech Republic open for business’

Czech Ambassador for Sri Lanka based in New Delhi, Milan Hovorka said there is a unique opportunity to take economic ties between Sri Lanka and Czech Republic to a higher level in the years ahead.

He made these views speaking at a networking session between the visiting Czech delegation comprising representatives of six business organizations and the Sri Lankan business community.

The event was organized by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) in association with the Embassy of the Republic of Czech.

“The main intention is to increase our economic presence in Sri Lanka in a way that is beneficial to both countries. Currently two-way trade between the two countries is worth US$ 60 million, out of which US$ 50 million is exports from Sri Lanka to the Czech Republic.”

“We are committed to support Sri Lanka and be a partner of Sri Lanka’s success story,” Ambassador Hovorka said.

The ambassador expressed confidence that Sri Lankan exports to Czech Republic will further increase once the EU-GSP plus concession is given to Sri Lanka.

Six Czech business companies dealing in various diversified sectors, such as heavy machinery, steel cylinders, nuclear power system, radar system, air traffic control, cooling towers and cooling circuits, vehicle manufacturers, suppliers of steam turbines, power generation, crude oil processing, food stuff industry participated at the B2B meetings.
