I was arrested to cripple our democratic struggle: Sivakaran

ITAK Youth Front Secretary S. Sivakaran yesterday said he was arrested to cripple their democratic struggle.

Sivakaran who was arrested by the Terrorist Investigation Division as part of investigations being carried into a suicide jacket found from Chavakachcheri in Jaffna was later released by Chavakachcheri Magistrate on strict bail condition.

He was released on bail with two personal bail each worth Rs. 100,000. He was also barred from leaving the country for one year.

Sivakaran said he was arrested by TID arbitrarily and he was questioned about his associates in foreign countries. “I have never been involved in activities which pose a threat to the country’s security. We wants our lands held by the Army,” he said.
