The govt. should have revealed the truth: Vasudeva

The government should have revealed the truth about the find in the North rather than find fault with Professor G. L. Pieris for revealing the information, Parliamentarian Vasudeva Nanayakkara said.

Instead, he said, the CID had interrogated Professor G. L. Pieris for hours. This was the government's tactic to suppress the opposition, Nanayakkara alleged.

He was addressing a press conference at the N. M. Perera Memorial Hall in Rajagiriya yesterday.

Nanayakkara also alleged that the Prime Minister's recent pledge to equip the Navy with ships and planes to police sea lanes must be to satisfy the needs of the US imperialism.
