Library with IT facilities for Pirivena from philanthropist

Wasanthi Pothupitiya participates in the opening of the  library

A fully fledged library with IT facilities have been provided to Hingurana Maha Pirivena in Hingurana, Ampara by the 24 Division Security Force (East) of the Army.

Philanthropist Wasanthi Pothupitiya of Gampaha opened the library on March 22 after offering it to the Maha Sanga. The fully air conditioned library and the computer lab was offered on a concept of the 24 Division Commander Major General P.M.R. Bandara with the coordination of Lieutenant Colonel F.H.A.Weerasinghe.

The library has around 4,000 books on Buddhism including the Thripitaka, Jathaka stories and many researches on Buddhism. The computer lab has 10 computers. Around 50 Buddhist monks studying at Hingurana Maha Pirivena will benefit.

The library and the computer lab was constructed with funds provided by Wasanthi Pothupitiya, her family members and students of the English Language Teaching Institute conducted by Wasanthi Pothupitiya.

Uththara Jaya Maha Viharaya and Hingurana Maha Pirivena Chief Incumbent Ven. Hingurane Siridhamma Thera said the library will benefit a large number of Buddhist monks.
