PM calls for 'urgent dialogue' on terrorism after Brussells attack

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in a message to his Belgium counterpart yesterday expressed his deepest condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones in the suicide attack on Brussels city on Tuesday.

In his message to Charles Michel, Wickremesinghe said he was deeply saddened and shocked by the terror attack on Brussels.

'Having experienced the horror of terror attacks ourselves, we in Sri Lanka understand well the difficulties faced by the international community concerning atrocities of this nature,' the statement read.

'As always, we have nothing but condemnation for such acts of violence.'

The Premier said the incident highlighted the need for an urgent dialogue on terrorism, that must include steps in addressing it effectively. He added that the thoughts and prayers of all Sri Lankans were with Belgium and her people, during this her time of national mourning.
