MR trying to save himself from ongoing probes: JVP

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna said, attempts by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and those Joint Opposition members supporting him to reclaim power was only to save themselves from ongoing probes related to corruption and other malpractices and not because they cared for the people.

Speaking at a public event in Hatton, JVP General Secretary Tylvin Silva said that Rajapaksa who now seeks power again seems to have forgotten that he was rejected by the people as he was a leader who failed. Downplaying the crowd which had attended the Joint Opposition rally held in Colombo last week, Silva said that even 1,000 people may look like a large gathering at a small ground like Hyde Park.
