'Sri Lanka is amazing, I will definitely return' - Richard Quest

Sri Lanka is a country I definitely want to visit again,economist and famous CNN presenter, Richard Quest said. "Sri Lanka is in my favourite countries list and I will make a private visit in less than one year to the island," he said at a reception at held at the Cinnamon Grand.

Quest said that the warmth of the people is one of the key factors that attracted him and it's a major plus point for the growth of tourism.

The award winning presenter also had a one hour meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. Asked what was on his agenda, Quest said that it was just a casual talk of the country and the world today. "It was a very good meeting."

Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, Cinnamon Life and IWS Holdings hosted this popular CNN figure and the host of 'Quest Means Business' - Richard Quest. Chairman of John Keells Holdings Susantha Ratnayake presented a memento to Quest at the event.

"In the few hours I was in the country, I was able to visit the Wellawatte beach and patronized a beach restaurant and tasted rice and a sea food meal which I would remember for a long time."

I also visited the Gangarama Temple and was surprised to see two vintage Rolls Royces there. "I wonder how it fits in there?" he quipped.

Commenting on his assignment he said it was a very good experience. Quest will be flying only on budget airlines, as he will travel around the world in eight days in which Colombo, Sri Lanka was one of the nine countries on his itinerary. "My team took about one week to make the bookings."

His local visit was coordinated by IWS holdings who were working with CNN for the past 35 years and Cinnamon Hotels was on board as the hospitality partner.He said he used flights like flydubai, Air Asia, Air Arabia, Jet Blue, Jet Star, Easy Jet, Ryan Air which he said were 'quite ok'

He said that today the aviation industry has reversed where low cost carriers are getting more popular and legacy carriers are getting less in demand. "I think the business community too should also try to fly low cost carriers once in a way."

Commenting on the US elections he said that people want a big change and said he won't be surprised if Donald Trump makes it as the winner. He also identified Ronald Reagan as one of the US Presidents and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in UK who really did changes for their countries.
