A special discussion on foreign assistance approximately worth of US$ 100 Mn, proposed to be provided for Sri Lanka by the Millennium Challenge Corporation was held today (09th) at the Ministry of Finance.
Mr, James A. Gerard, Managing Director, Millennium Challenge Corporation and several other American representatives participated in this discussion, headed by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Ravi Karunanayake and the Ambassador of the United States to Sri Lanka.
Assistance of US$ 50 Mn - US$ 100 Mn is expected to be provided for Sri Lanka under this project.
In this discussion attention has been focused on the fields to be considered for grants. This delegation hope to have a special discussion with the Prime Minister, will visit Sri Lanka again in next December for final discussions and provisions will be provided in 2017 after these discussions.
