Seventy two school buses, vans in custody

The Beliatta police took into custody 72 school buses and vans. OIC Beliatta police Jayantha Samarakone said that not a single bus or van had an assistant to look after the schoolchildren.

He said that while the school bus and van drivers were educated on safety measures that should be adopted in the interest of children, they had not adhered to them. He said that more school vans and buses will be brought to book in the next rounds of inspection by the police.
