YMBA condemns action of some Buddhist monks

The Colombo Young Men's Buddhist Association in a statement yesterday, condemned the conduct of some Buddhist monks at the Homagama Courts.

In its statement the Association said: Members of the Sangha are expected to conduct themselves with decorum. They are to walk with measured steps. They are to talk less. The Buddha advised "Oh, Monks, if you have nothing to do, discuss the Dhamma, the teaching of all the Buddhas, or maintain noble silence".

"They said the foul language used by the unruly monks was a disgrace to the Maha Sangha in particular, and the Buddhist cause in general, and condemned on no uncertain terms the behavior of the monks."
