PMB's lethargy irks farmers

Farmer organisations in Anuradhapura complain that the Paddy Marketing Board (PMB) has not taken action to purchase the 2015/2016 maha Season paddy harvest. Mahakanadarawa Integrated Farmer Organisation Chairman R.M.R Rajapaksa said at the District Agriculture Committee meeting recently that private sector paddy dealers have started purchasing paddy at low rates ranging from Rs. 19 and Rs. 20. He said this should not be allowed to continue putting farmers into difficulty.
