More than 1,000 people residing in eight villages in the Hewaheta electorate assembled at Talatuoya town on February 17, to hold a demonstration.

They blocked the road and burned tires obstructing traffic for nearly five hours seeking a solution to their long standing drinking water issue.

They said that since 2002 politicians had only deceived them, promising to settle the matter but taking no action.

They said three bowsers were used to supply water to an Army camp, a mere 25 miles away.
