Two tries by Sanjula Roshan helped Science College Mount Lavinia to clinch the Singer inter-schools under 18 rugby Sevens title when they outplayed more fancied Trinity College, Kandy by 17 points (one goal, two tries) to 5 (a try) in the final played at the Royal College Sports Complex yesterday.
The lads from Mount Lavinia drew the first blood when Sanjula Roshan scored a try with Nishad Neranjan making no mistake with the conversion. On the stroke of half time Science increased the lead to 12-0 when Ashan Madumadhawa scored an unconverted try.
The Trinitians entered the game when Warren Weerakoon crashed through for a solitary try in the second half. Several minutes later, Roshan scored his second try which went unconverted and Science ran out worthy winners. Pradeep Fernando refereed.
In the semi-finals, Science scored a whopping 41- nil win over Wesley College while Trinity defeated their hometown rivals Kingswood College by 24-nil.
Isipathana College won the Plate Championship by edging out Royal College 12-7.
Dharmaraja College Kandy bagged the Bowl Championship when they outplayed C.W.W.Kannangara Vidyalaya 24-nil and Zahira College Colombo took the Shield Championship by overcoming Maliyadeva College Kurunegala 28-14.
