Walkers Colombo Shipyard formerly Seagulf Shipyard under Walkers CML (WCML) is planning to expand to the Maldives.
In addition,WCML which also acquired Colombo Engineering intends to develop all the fishery harbours as repair outlets to provide support for fishermen.
"WCML which is a diversified conglomerate with their vision to develop the marine industry will invest all the money in all marine projects," Walkers Colombo Shipyard Managing Director Dr. Sarath Obeysekera said.
"We are in the process of building a shiplift (ship will be lifted with hydraulic winches above water and transferred to the Pier upto 1500 ton ,65 meter long supply vessels,tugs,fishing trawlers and coastal tankers and large yachts) which will be used to launch newly built boats to water.
This US$ 5 million investment is planned for the Trincomlee harbour area." (SS)
