Person climbs tree demanding relief

A person from Wanduramba, Galle engaged in a hunger strike by climbing up a tree at in Kataragama this morning to protest the removal of his shop by what he termed as “Yahapalana Government”.

He is urging the government to provide a solution for the economic problem he faced as a result of this incident.

The protester, a father of two children said that he faced a severe economic crisis as his shop at Galle Fort was removed by the government as well. Therefore he demanded the government to provide him with a suitable occupation while looking into his matter with humanity.

Although the Kataragama Police attempted to get him down from the tree it was not a successful. The protester further said that he had a bottle of poison with him and if the police tries to harm him that he will commit suicide.
