The suspension bridge across the Maskeli-oya on the Madeniya-Galgodehinna road in the
Ambagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha is in a state of disrepair, villagers said.
The wooden planks fixed on the 60 metre bridge constructed by the then Ambagamuwa South Village Council over six decades ago are decayed. Its supportive wires are also loose, they said.
Villagers travelling on the Madeniya-Galgodehinna road are compelled to travel on the dilapidated bridge risking their lives. Villagers urge the authorities to take steps to reconstruct the bridge.
Meanwhile, the Kurundugolla-Pambahena road in the Ambagamuwa divisional secretariat division was concreted by the government.
The Road Development Authority funded Rs. 1 million to construct the rural road where work had come to a stand-still during the past few years.
