Marked progress in health sector during first half of 2015 - Central Bank

A report on contemporary economic developments issued by the Central Bank indicates that there is one doctor for every 1,116 patients in state hospitals, as at the end of June 2015. Going by the doctor-patient ratio there are 18,792 doctors serving in public health sector while 32,225 nurses serve at state health institutions at the ratios of one nurse for 651 patients.

Furthermore, as at June 2015 there are 3.7 beds for every 1,000 sick persons at government hospitals. Consequently there are 76,781 beds in 601 government hospitals.

The report states that during the first half of. 2015 there was a marked progress in the provision of infrastructure, facilities and human resources for government health institutions, throughout the country.
