A 150 feet high tower erected during the Dutch period collapsed

A  150 feet high tower erected during the Dutch period in Kandawala,   Negombo collapsed on to a nearby dispensary, causing damages to the   building on Saturday. No injuries were reported. The tower is said to have  been built by the Dutch in 1796. It had been used for communication and surveillance  purposes. The tower had been under the protection of the Archaeological Department.
