Additional crops in five divisional secretariats in Ampara

The Sri Lanka Hadabima Authority started a project to cultivate additional crops in five divisional secretariats in the Ampara district, Hadabima Authority Executive Director R. M. Pushpakumara said.

About 1,500 families from Padiyathalawa, Mahaoya, Uhana, Damana and Amapara Divisional Secretariats have been selected for the project. Basic knowledge of cultivating additional crops has been provided to selected families, he said. Pushpakumara said according to the concept of providing a set of agriculture machinery to all farmers free of charge, as mentioned in the Mahinda Chinthanaya Forward Vision, the Hadabima Authority will provide mammoty blades to farmers. Peanut, green gram and black gram seeds worth Rs 2,000 will also be provided to all families, he said.
