Special meeting on C'wealth Confab

A special meeting to review the progress of the organizational work of the Commonwealth Conference scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka in November 2013, was held under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday.

The President pointed out the necessity of the organizational work to be locally oriented with an exclusive Sri Lankan style that would depict Sri Lanka's identity and locality. The ideas were lengthily exchanged on the preparation of the conference and the programmes that are to be practiced in line with the conference.

It was revealed that essay competitions in both the Sinhala and Tamil medium would also be held among school children on the activities of the Commonwealth. The Commonwealth Conference would be a good platform to promote local industries and products worldwide. Ministers Prof. GL Peiris, Basil Rajapaksa, MP Sajin Vaas Gunawardena, Secretary to the President Lalith Weerathunga, Presidential Task Chief Gamini Senarath, Finance Ministry Secretary Dr. PB Jayasundera and Foriegn Affiars Ministry Secretary Karunathilaka Amunugama were also present.
