Mobile services in three districts

Parallel to the islandwide Deyata Kirula National Development programme 2014, 2,731 mobile services commenced at Grama Seva level on July 1.

They will conclude on December 31. The services began in 2,731 Grama Seva Divisions of 57 Divisional Secretariats in the Kurunegala, Kegalle and Puttalam districts under Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa's guidance to coincide with the eighth Deyata Kirula starting next February.

The number of services will be 1,610 in the Kurunegala District, 573 in the Kegalle District and 578 in the Puttalam District. Identifying community problems and finding effective solutions to them are being successfully accomplished under the programme in Kegalle, according to Kegalle District Secretary Thusitha Wanigasinghe.

The total number of beneficiaries under this people's participatory development programme in the three districts is 3.2 million. He said during the past three years, Rs. 14,000 billion had been spent on developing the Puttalam District.
