Cannabis transporter arrested

Tantitimale Police arrested a 26 year old man while he was transporting a kilogramme of cannabis in a three wheeler at Ahatuwewa, Tantririmale on Wednesday. The suspect, a resident of Alayapattuwa was produced in Anuradhapura magistrate court yesterday.

Mason stabbed to death

Beliatta Police have commenced a search operation to arrest a suspect who is wanted in connection with the murder of a mason who had been stabbed to death in Beliatta on Wednesday. The victim, a head mason at a construction site at Beliatta Maha Vidyalaya is reported to have had a heated argument with the suspect who was working under him.

Shopkeeper arrested

A shopkeeper was arrested with 700 pills of cannabis mixed with Madana Modaka while keeping them for sale in his stall on Puttlam- Kurunegala road on Wednesday. He was produced at the Puttlam Magistrate's Court yesterday.

STF raid heroin dealers

STF intelligence officers arrested three suspects with 457.040 grammes of heroin worth nearly Rs 3.65 million in their possession at Habaraduwa and Mount Laviniya . Two of the suspects who are residents of Boossa and Morawaka, were arrested in Unawatuna on Monday night while transporting 397.5 grammes of heroin in a car. They were handed over to Police Narcotics Bureau for further questioning.

The other suspect was taken into custody at Watarappala junction with 59.540 grammes of heroin. He has been remanded until September 27 by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate.
