Minors found idling in bus stand

Three girls, two 12 year olds and an eight year old were taken into police custody by the Galle Police Child and Women's Bureau yesterday on Thursday.

The three minors had been idling at the Galle Central Bus stand. Police investigations revealed the eight year child had left home due to intolerable constant physical harassment by her stepmother. Her father had remarried following her mother's untimely death. Police found that the minors were from Doluwawatte, Thawalama in Galle. The two others have joined the eight year old to support her.

Galle Police were to produce parents of the children before courts yesterday.
