Sadhu chants fill the air as Relics arrive in Tissamaharama

The Sacred Kapilavastu Relics arrived in Tissamaharama yesterday to
the religious chants by thousands of devotees who flocked to the
Tissamaharama Rajamaha Viharaya where the Relics will remain for two
days.
Tharunyata Hetak Organization chairman and Parliamentarian Namal
Rajapaksa received the Sacred Relics at the Weerawila Airport and bore
it to the Tissamaharama Temple.
He was accompanied by Disaster Management Minister Mahinda Amaraweera
and Uva Province Chief Minister Shashendra Rajapaksa.
Tissamaharama Rajamaha Viharaya Chief Incumbent, Ven Dr Devalegama
Dhammananda Thera received the casket containing the Sacred Relics at
the Viharaya premises and placed the casket in the Dhathu Mandiraya.
Lengthy queues stretched out from the five entrances of the Rajamaha
Viharaya as devotees patiently awaited their turn to pay homage to the
Relics from the previous evening.
Relics expositions will be as follows Tissamaharama Rajamaha Vihara,
September 5, 6 and 7 Hunupitiya, Gangaraama Temple- Colombo September 8,
9 and 10, Kelaniya Rajamaha Vihara September 11, and 12. The Sacred
Relics will be kept for public veneration at the ancient Kelaniya
Rajamaha Viharaya on September 12 till 10.30am before the Sacred
Kapilavasthu Relics are taken to India.
