Sanath Jayasuriya, if fit will play
Kandurata Warriors play Uthura Rudras today:
After the exiting two matches in the SLPL on Friday, the two bottom
of the table teams Kandurata Warriors and Uthura Rudras will meet in the
only game scheduled for today at the same venue today at 4 p.m. Both
teams have some good players, but surprisingly have not been able to get
their acts together and at the time of writing are languishing at the
bottom of the points table.
Dashing all rounder Thisara Perera is the one to watch. It would not
be a bad idea for Kandurata to open the batting with Perera.
He has the ability to blast any attack and sending him early, should
give him the necessary confidence.
The forgotten wicket keeper batsman Kaushal Silva is another to
watch. Pity that he has been ignored by the cricket selectors.
He is a classy batman and a safe wicket keeper and it is hoped that
he will be back in his once famous run making act. Kandurata were led by
Thilan Saaraweera in their first two games and if the former master
blaster’ Sanath Jayasuriya has fully recovered from a niggle, should
Jayasuriya who stunned the cricket world with his daring big hitting
during his time, is sure to put on show some of his batting magic if he
plays. His all round ability is what his team is lacking.
The Pakistanis in the team – Misbah Ul Haq, Saeed Ajmal and Sohail
Tanvir should make their presence felt.
Misbah has been in good form and should be among the runs again. Of
the local batsman Tharanga Paranavitarne, Jeewantha Kulatunga and
Malinda Warnapura are also expected to make runs. Bowlers to watch will
be Kosala Kulesekera, Thisara Perera and Kaushal Lokkurachchi. Uthura
Rudras are strong in bowling and the same cannot be said about their
batting. The only batsmen to watch are Imran Farhat and Mahela Udawatte.
Jehan Mubarak, Chamara Kapugedera an Farveez Mahroof must also make
it a point to score. Medium fast bowler Kevon Cooper is good.
Muttiah Muralithean from whom much is expected has not made much of
