Buddhangala MMV upgraded as secondary school
The Buddhangala MMV in the Padaviya area, Anuradhapura was upgraded
as a well-equipped secondary school recently.
Education Minister Bandula Gunawardane accompanied by Child
Development and Women's Affairs Minister Tissa Karalliyadda and former
North Central Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake commissioned a
new building complex housing the administrative unit, science
laboratory, teachers' hostel, along with the protective fence, the main
entrance gate and the new water supply mechanism worth Rs 40 million.
Minister Karalliyadda said after 54 years since the beginning of the
Buddhangala MMV with 13 students, it was a historic event to have the
school hoisted to the level of a secondary school. The area is adjoined
to Mulathivu, Trincomalee and Vavuniya districts. During the 30 years of
war, the development of the school retarded, the minister said.
