Drugs shortage

Patients compelled to purchase at exorbitant prices:

There is an acute shortage of drugs at the Walapane division hospital in the Nuwara Eliya Provincial Health Director’s area.

Outdoor patients are inconvenienced as a result.

According to hospital authorities, more than 200 outdoor patients from remote villages such as Munwatta, Keepura, Kumbalgarouwa, Walapane, Batagolla, Millapitiya, Egodakanda, Ketakandura and Harasbedda come here for treatment.

Due to the lack of essential drugs, patients are compelled to purchase the drugs at private pharmacies paying exorbitant prices.

Residents appeal to health authorities to look into this matter and supply drugs to the hospital.
