Govt set for resounding victory at PC polls - deputy minister
Deputy Environment Minister Abdul Cader said the United People's
Freedom Alliance (UPFA) is confident of a resounding victory at the
forthcoming provincial council elections. Commenting on the upcoming
polls, he said it was important for all communities, whether it be
Sinhala, Tamil or Muslims to vote for the government and further
strengthen it at a time when the country was forging ahead in all areas.
He urged the Muslim community to put petty differences aside and
support the UPFA as it was this government led by President Mahinda
Rajapaksa which paved the way for all communities to live in unity,
friendship and harmony.
"It is the present government which restored the lost rights and
properties of Muslims who were at the receiving end due to LTTE
terrorist activities in the not too distant past," he pointed out.
The Deputy Minister said the government had taken measures to restore
destroyed mosques in the North and East, fully supported to increase
religious pilgrimages of Muslims and has helped the community more than
any other government.
