Over 300 accidents reported on Southern Expressway

A total of 310 accidents have been reported so far since the Southern Expressway, the first Expressway in Sri Lanka, was opened on November 27, last year.

Ports and Highways Deputy Minister Nirmala Kothalawala said damages caused by the accidents to the Southern Expressway stood at around Rs.6.8 million.

Over 1.8 million vehicles have entered the Southern Expressway through eight interchanges and the government has earned over Rs 540 million since the Expressway was opened.
