Mithun stars with 90 against KYCC

A superb knock of 90 runs by Mithun Jayawickrama paved the way for Sinhalese Sports Club team to amass a good total but they narrowly missed an innings win over Kandy York Cricket Club (YCC) in their under-23 tournament match played at Moors Ground recently.

In reply to SSC's first innings score of 299 for nine, KYCC were all out for 43 in their first innings. Mithun Jayawickrama hit a fine knock of 90 runs to lift the SSC total while Wishwa Wijerathna (68), Harith Maduwantha (41) and Sanka Ramesh (31) also contributed the side.

Kandy YCC were skittled out for a paltry 43 with the help of good bowling performances by Charith Jayampathi (3/19), Chirath Mapatuna (3/10), Dasun Shanaka (2/10) and Suresh Wickrema(2/0)

At close, Kandy YCC were struggling with 76 for four wickets.

Ruwantha Ekanayake scored 46 while Chirath Mapatuna captured two wickets for eight.
