Postal vote application deadline extended

The Elections department has extended the deadline for receiving applications for postal voting until July 19 for the forthcoming elections to the Eastern, North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Councils.

Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya yesterday said there will be no further extensions.

According to the Commissioner the 2011 electoral register will be used for this poll. The names of postal vote applicants will be be on display at the offices of District Returning Officers at every Divisional Secretariat and Grama Niladhari office. RS
