Tit for tat by son

A middle aged father and mother resident in Meetiyagoda who returned home after attending their daughter's wedding at a hotel in Ambalangoda were surprised to see most of their household items including furniture, television set and brass ornaments missing recently.

The father who could not fathom what had happened made a bee-line to the Meetiyagoda Police Station and lodged a complaint. Police who investigated the matter, gathered from neighbours that the bride's brother who had fallen out with his parents and family had brought a lorry and removed the household items in the absence of the other occupants saying the items were to be given away as his sister's dowry.

Acting on eye witness accounts, Police arrested the son and questioned him in the presence of the father. He disclosed he did this to spite his parents for failing to invite him for the sister's wedding. The father who still had a soft corner for his son through mercy told Police to drop the mater and the errant son went free.
