Knowledge sharing exercise with Kelani Cables

A team led by Dean Faculty of Engineering University of Peradeniya Prof. S.B.Weerakoon has initiated a knowledge sharing exercise with Kelani Cables recently as part of Kelani Saviya Programe in the country .Mahinda Saranapala CEO KELANI CABLES who led the Kelani Cables Management Team, did a presentation on future requirements on Solar Power and Communication cables. He stressed the necessity of research and development on solar power by the two entities.

Prof.Manjula Fernando, course director Kelani Saviya briefed the available human resources in the Department of Electrical and Electronic engineering. He said that they covered four major technical areas such as Communication and Information Engineering, electronics, Instrumentation and Biomedical Engineering, Robotics, Automation and Control Engineering and Power, Energy and High Voltage Engineering.

Professor K.M.Liyanage of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, who shared valuable ideas with Kelani Cables Management team at the discussion when talking on the topic of Introduction to solar power research and Efficient operation of grid connected solar power system , said the efficient operation of grid connection PV(Photo Voltaic Pannel) is the revolution of the future power generation system and Solar is the right answer. Prof.Liyanage said the environment friendly solar power system is widely used as Solar water heating,Solar Thermal Power plants, Solar Photo Voltaic (PV) Systems and Mega Solar Plants.
