Junior Speech Craft awards ceremony
The Rotary Club of Colombo North and Wesley College (Primary),
Colombo is organising the Junior Speech Craft awards ceremony tomorrow
at 5.30 pm at Wesley College Borella.
The chief guest is Rotary District Governor Darshan John. Many
educationists and intellectuals will participate in this event. Over 400
students will receive awards and certificates.
This ceremony is organised to sharpen the skills in public speaking.

between six to eight years at school level for the first time in Sri

Royal History book launch
Royal College has been recognised as one of the premier boys'
educational institution in Sri Lanka for over 175 years. The tale of
Royal from 1835-1985 was previously chronicled by S S Perera.M L
Fernando sets out to complete this legend from 1985-2012 in his latest
publication concerning the history of Royal College.
The ceremony for this book launch will be held today at 8.45 pm at
the Navarangahala under the distinguished patronage of Secretary to the
President Lalith Weeratunga
Dr. Ananda Perera will deliver a public talk in English on 'Buddhism
and Western Medicine' at a meeting of the Servants of the Buddha Society
on June 30 at 4.30 pm at the Maithree Hall, Lauries Road. Bambalapitiya.
BCIS commences 'IR Evenings'
The Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) is
commencing a series of informal discussions on International Relations,
themed 'IR Evenings,' from June 2012.
The first discussion of the series will take place on June 29 at 5
p.m. at the BCIS. The session will be on 'Future of the Indian Ocean
Geo-Politics and Sri Lanka' and will be conducted by a former Director
of the BCIS Dr. Harinda Vidanage.
Commenting on this new addition to BCIS's value portfolio, BCIS
Director Prof. W I Siriweera said, "To be an informed citizen in a
globalized society, knowledge on international affairs and current
global politics is of paramount importance. To cater to this
requirement, the BCIS is commencing an open-house informal lecture
series on a monthly basis to provide an impartial platform for the
students of BCIS and the general public including school children to
update their knowledge on International affairs with the help of
academics, policy makers and diplomats based in Colombo."
RC Class of '80 anniversary
The students of Royal College Class of 80' have organised a variety
of events to mark their 50th anniversary.
They will donate a public address system and a Intercom system worth
over Rs. three million to their college which was identified as a
priority project. The handing over ceremony of the public address and
Intercom systems to the Royal College Principal will take place at a
special Assembly to be held at the Navarangahala at 11 am today.

Commemoration anniversary will be held at Malawana, Pahala Mapitigama on
June 29. He was a sub editor at Davasa, Lankadeepa, Vanitha Viththi and
editor at the Deshaya , Pahara and Navarella .
The Sirisoma Hettiarachchi Foundation with his family has organized a
series of religious activities under the patronage of Most Ven Kahahene
Medhananda Thera. Sirisoma Hettiarachchi was the father of Lakbima
journalist Kamani Hettiarachchi and National Craft Council Media
Coordinator Kushan Hettiarachchi.

B.R.M. Thasmini Thihansa aged 4 years and 7 months, of No. 440 -
Hospital Rd, Ranala, Nawagamuwa is suffering from a severe heart
