Sri Lankans set to savour a grand victory today
Pakistan 36 for 3 at close given 510 for victory
Set a mammoth 510 for victory in 16 overs and six
sessions by Sri Lanka, Pakistan were gasping 3 for 37 at the close
on day three with Sri Lanka looking to strangle the remaining
batsmen and bury the Pakistani sometime today in the first of three
Tests at the Galle International Stadium.
Up Country Lions make debut
Up Country Lions (UCL) making their debut in
division one Dialog Rugby League registered the first victory when
they defeated CH and FC SC by 42(two goals, five tries and a
penalty) to 10 (two tries) at CH and FC ground yesterday. UCL who
lost to Kandy FC (11-26) last week, made a tremendous come back in
to the tournament amidst continuous poor performance by CH and FC
242-run win for St. Servatius
St. Servatius college Matara won their under 15
division one cricket match against Rahula College by an overhelming
margin of 242 runs. The match was played at the Rahula college
grounds last Friday. On winning the toss St Servatius opted to bat
first scoring 371 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 50
overs. Right handed batsman Ramesh Nimantha scored 152 off 107
deliveries with 16 boundaries and half a dozen hits over the ropes.
Umpiring has left much to be desired
The umpiring in this first Test has left much to
be desired. At the end of play media conference, a question was put
to the Pakistani coach Dav Whatmore that 11 umpiring decisions had
gone against Pakistan and asking for his comments. Whatmore the
former Sri Lankan coach said that there is nothing he could say or
do and that it will have to be taken through the correct channels.
Not only the Pakistanis, some decisions have gone against the Sri
FIFA women’s goal keeping programme at Kalutara
The FIFA Women's Goal Keeping Training Programme
was held from June 11 to 15 2012 at the Vernon Fernando Stadium,
Kalutara conducted by the FFSL and the Asian Football Confederation.
The training was given by the FIFA Instructor Mrs Anne Noe of
Belgium. She has played 15 years for the Women's Soccer National
team of Belgium and she has been coaching the Belgium National team
for 15 years. At present she has been contributing her talent for
the FIFA for the last six years.
