Custom officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport yesterday seized a consignment of chewing tobacco worth over Rs 1.5 million. A passenger had left eight travelling bags in which the consignment of tobacco was concealed in 100 packets.
The officials later arrested a person who attempted to take the bags away after entering the area restricted to outsiders other than passengers. Investigations are continuing on the direction of Deputy Directors of Customs S D Gamini and I S Balasuriya. Picture by Kumarasiri Prasad, Airport correspondent
