Minister Fowzie prays for peace, prosperity in Sri Lanka
Senior Minister for Urban Affairs and Minister in Charge of Hajj
Affairs A.H.M. Fowzie, yesterday took part in the washing of the
Kahbathullah in Mecca, Islam's Holiest Mosque in the world at the
invitation of Saudi Hajj Minister, Bandar bin Mohammed bin Hamza Al-Hajjar.
Minister Fowzie was in Mecca to attend the funeral of Crown Prince
Naif bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, as the representative of the Government of
Sri Lanka, when he received the invitation, which is considered a rare
honour to Sri Lanka.
Kahbathullah which was the first Mosque built by Prophet Ibrahim
(alai), is considered the symbol of unity of Muslims around the world as
they face in the direction of Kahbathullah in their daily prayers. It is
to this Mosque, Muslims all over the world make pilgrimage every year
and perform Hajj.
It is believed that prayers made from here will be granted by Allah.
Using this opportunity, Minister Fowzie made prayers for peace, harmony
and prosperity for the people of Sri Lanka.
In view of the fact that 6,000 people have applied for Hajj
pilgrimage this year, the minister also prayed that all aspirants be
granted the opportunity of performing Hajj this year. |
