Dawn of Poson at Ambuluwawa Sila- Samadhi programme
"Dawn of Poson at Ambuluwawa" Sila- Samadhi programme organised by
the Prime Minister's Office and the Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs
Ministry to mark the Poson festival took place at the Ambuluwawa All
Religious and Bio Diversity Complex in Gampola on Saturday with the
participation of Prime Minister D.M.Jayaratne

The Poson Udawai, Ambuluwawai Seela Samadhi Buddhist campaign
organized by the Prime Minister's Office and Buddha Sasana and
Religious Affairs Ministry was held last Saturday at the
Ambuluwawa Multi-Religious Complex and Bio-diversity Park in
Gampola under the auspices of the Maha Sanga with the
participation of Prime Minister D M Jayaratne. The casket
containing the relics was escorted by the Prime Minister to the
Dana Shala during the alms giving to the Maha Sangha organized
on the same day. Central Province Chief Minister Sarath
Ekanayake is also in the picture. |
The celebrations included an alms giving to 500 monks to bless
President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the government and the people. Over 3,000
devotees from far and near attended the ceremony in front of the
Govijana Sera and the shrine.
The main Anusasanas of the Sila-Samadhi programme were delivered by
Ven Kiribathgoda Gnananada and Ven Prof. Hanguranketha Dirananda Theras.
Dhamma forums highlighted the duty of the Buddhists to create a just
society which is the need of the hour to meet the object of the 2,600th
Sambudhathwa Jayanthi.
The Prime Minister offered alms and attended other religious
activities.
The Prime Minister's wife Anula Yapa Jayaratne, Private Secretary
Anuradha Jayaratne, Deputy Ministers Abdul Cader and Duminda Dissanayaka,
Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake, Provincial Council
member Nissanka Herath and Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs
Chandraprema Gamage attended the ceremony. |
