“The 22km Matara-Hakmana road will be widened by the Road Ministry to a four-lane highway at a cost of Rs. 400 million from the Matara Bodhiya to Tudawa. Separate lanes will be constructed on either side of the road for pedestrians and cyclists,” he said.

“The Colombo-Matara Expressway will be extended from Godagama to Nupe junction. Construction work of this Expressway will be completed by May end next year. Rs. 20 million has been allocated for the renovation and modernisation work of Rahula College Matara main hall.” he said. The minister said the Uyanwatta stadium will also be given a facelift.

Minister Alahapperuma further said the people are enjoying these facilities due to the President's farsighted and dynamic leadership.
