Host of programmes at Ambuluwawa for Poson
Several programmes will be conducted at the All Religious and
Bio-Diversity Complex at Ambuluwawa, Gampola to commemorate the arrival
of Mihindu Maha Rahathan in Sri Lanka and dawn of Poson Poya.

The series of programmes, a brainchild of Prime Minister D M
Jayaratne and implemented under his guidance, will be held on June 2
throughout the day at the Ambuluwawa All Religious and Bio- Diversity
Complex.
A seela campaign with the participation of 2,600 devotees will be
held at the Ambuluwawa Chaithya, which resembles a vee bissa to mark the
2600th Sri Sambuddhathwa Jayanthi.
An alms giving ceremony for the Maha Sangha will also be held to
bless President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Jayaratne and the
government and the people.
The religious programme will include a series of Dhamma Desana by Ven
Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thera and several bhikkus, Daham discussions and
a Bodhi Pooja.
Sil redi will be offered to those observing sil on this day. A
dansala will be held to provide meals to devotees arriving at Ambulwawa.
Ambuluwawa Chaithya. Transport will be provided to devotees on this day.
The Poson programme has been organised by the Prime Minister's Office
and the Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs Ministry, National Heritage
Ministry, District Secretariat, Kandy, Udapalatha Divisional
Secretariat, Udapalatha Pradeshiya Sabha, Gampola Municipal Council,
Gampola Police, Provincial Education Ministry and government
institutions.
Prime Minister Jayaratne, MPs and Kandy district ministers, Central
Province Chief Minister and Governor and several dignitaries will
participate in the ceremony. |
