Grenade flung at magistrate’s residence
A hand grenade was thrown at the Marawila
magistrate’s residence yesterday by an unidentified person but it
did not explode, Police Spokesman SP Ajith Rohana said. The suspect
had come on a motorcycle and had thrown the bomb and fled. No
casualties were reported.

Police officers transferred for service requirements
The Police Department has transferred 24 police
officers including Senior Superintendents of Police
(SSPs),Superintendents of Police (SPs), Assistant Superintendents of
Police (ASPs) and Chief Inspectors with immediate effect on account
of service requirements on the instructions of the Inspector General
of Police N.K.Illangakoon.

GN, Registrar nabbed in bribery case
A Grama Niladari in Galle was arrested by the
Police for allegedly accepting a bribe from a person on Tuesday. It
is alleged that the officer had requested a Rs 5,000 bribe from a
resident of Nugaduwa, Galle to hand over a land deed to him.
