Police seize huge explosives cache in North

The Police have found a haul of C4 and other explosives from the general area Pudukudirippu and Iranamadu hidden near an old LTTE bunker. The cache was found during a search operation by the Vavuniya Police following information received.

LTTE atrocities: massacre of 146 Buddhist pilgrims

Yesterday marked the 27th remembrance of the brutal massacre of 146 Buddhist pilgrims by LTTE terrorists at the Sacred Jaya Sri Maha-Bodhi at Anuradhapura. On May 14 , 1985 - a Sunday, the entire nation and the Buddhist world were shocked at the news of barbarism displayed by the most ruthless terrorist group - the LTTE, on unarmed innocent civilians including the clergy, women and children.

Court orders diamonds allegedly stolen to be released

Colombo Chief Magistrate Rashmi Sengapulli yesterday ordered a consignment of diamonds allegedly stolen from a Greek entity to be released to the owners on the next hearing, postponed for May 16. The magistrate further ordered that the bail applications of the suspects could be considered on that day. Acting on a complaint, the CID took into custody four suspects.
