KOICA support for On-line E-Procurement System

The Department of Technical Education and Training (DTET) will develop the On-line E-Procurement System with the support of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Sri Lanka office, to enhance the department's efficiency procurement system, DTET Director General Chithral Ambawatte said.

"It takes about five months to supply training material and other education material to technical colleges through the manual procurement system. Because of this, students have to face difficulties as training material are not received at the proper time. With the introduction of the new e-procurement system, the time duration will be reduced to one month," he said.

"Principals can submit their list of material online. The head office will select suitable suppliers. Supplier registration can also be done online.

This system is highly successful in Korea," Ambawatte said.

The KOICA Sri Lanka office and DTET jointly organised the workshop on 'Development of e-Procurement Systems' recently.
