Sri Lanka’s assistance to Japan still remembered - Minister
Hirano Hirofumi
Sri Lanka is a close friend of Japan. The assistance granted by Sri
Lanka for Japan’s peace and harmony is still remembered by Japan. Sri
Lanka also helped Japan when it was affected by the tsunami. Because of
all these facts Japan is always ready to support Sri Lanka, Japanese
Education, Cultural, Sports, Science and Technology Minister Hirano
Hirofumi said.
Minister Hirofumi expressed his views at a discussion with Fisheries
and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne
recently.
Minister Senaratne went to Japan to participate in the first Japan
-Sri Lanka Traditional and Trade Centre summit. He was the chief guest
and its chairman.
The Sri Lanka Counsel General in Japan Sunil M. Gamage had organized
several discussions between Minister Senaratne and Japanese Ministers.
Ministers Senaratne and Hirofumi held several discussions with regard
to improving bilateral ties between the two countries.
Talking with Japanese Minister Hirofumi, Minister Senaratne said the
friendship and brotherhood between Sri Lanka and Japan has a long
history and that all measures should be taken to strengthen these bonds
between the two countries. The Japanese government has provided immense
assistance for Sri Lanka’s development, including the Sri
Jayawardenepura Hospital and the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.
Japan has also provided several donations for Sri Lankan Social
Development and Humanitarian services. Accordingly there is a very
strong friendship between Sri Lanka and Japan.
No one can break this friendship, the minister added.
He also paid gratitude to the Japanese government on behalf of the
President and the whole country for their continuous assistance to Sri
Lanka. |
