'ANCL fulfilling corporate social responsibility'

The second day of the 22 Amadahara Vesak Zone organised annually by
the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd (ANCL) was illuminated yesterday
by Acting Media Minister and Economic Development Deputy Minister
Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena and Sri Lanka Telecom Chief Executive Officer
Greg Young.

The illumination ceremony was graced by ANCL Editorial Director
Seelaratne Senarath, ANCL Director Operations Upul Dissanayake and
Derana Media Organisation CEO Madawa Medawala.Sri Lanka Telecom has
extended its patronage as the main sponsor. Derana Media Oraganisation
is the electronic media sponsor which broadcasts the proceedings live.
The Amadahara Vesk Zone will be held until today in the precints of
ANCL. Parliamentarian Manusha Nanayakkara will open the Amadahara Vesk
Zone today.
The ANCL Vesak Bakthi Gee and lantern exhibition and competition are
the highlights of the Amadahara Vesak Zone.
Attractive prizes are on offer for the winners of the lantern
competition.
Minister Abeywardena said that it is praiseworthy for ANCL as the
leading print media organisation in the country to organise the
Amadahara Vesak Zone annually.
He noted that the ANCL is fulfilling its corporate social
responsibility not only by holding the Amadahara, but, also by
illuminating the ancient Mihintale Stupa under the theme Mihintala Aloka
Poojawa.
Minister Abeywardena thanked ANCL Chairman and Managing Director
Bandula Padmakumara and members of the organisation for the utmost
contribution for such corporate social responsibility programmes, such
as, the Amadahara Vesk Zone.ANCL Editorial Director Seelarathna Senarath
said the Amadahara Vesk Zone was held annually by ANCL even during the
LTTE terror period. |
