Ananda post 54-0 victory over Dharmapala

Ananda College, Colombo beat Dharmapala College Pannipitiya by 54 points (8 tries, 2 goals) to nil in their Singer Schools Under 20 League rugby match played at Air Force Grounds, Ratmalana yesterday.

Anandians seemed to be stronger throughout the game and never allowed the opponents to score a single point.R.Mahawatte opened the scoring for Ananda with a try soon after the play started.

D.Thilakaratne, I. Wickramasinghe, L. Liyanawaduge, S. D. Hettiarachchi. followed with a with try each in the first half. Mahawatte scored his second with A. C. Hemantha adding the extra points with a successful conversion.

Pannipitiya lads were unable to put up any resistance.

Keshan Indunil scored another try before the short whistle and D.Thilakaratne converted it. Ananda were leading 39 – 0 at half time.

Anandians penetrated the Pannipitiya defence three times in the second half and scored 15 points to made it an easy 54 – 0 win. C.Savanatha, R.Mahawatte and I.Wickremasinghe scored a try each in the second half.
