Mobile inspections and raids bring in Rs. 480,908

A Special Investigations Unit of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, has
collected a sum of over Rs. 480,908 from mobile inspections and raids
conducted during the first quarter of the current year, SLTB's Special
Investigation Unit Director, Upali Gunasekara said.
Nearly 1,426 ticketless commuters had been nabbed and fined in the
course of this period.
Over 270 ticket frauds and 1,173 other irregularities and instances
of acting against instructions and orders that had been issued by the
Sri Lanka Transport Board have also been detected by the SIU officials,
he said. The number of mobile inspections done in the course of the
period concerning in SLTB buses, have been over 32,295, he said.
With the aim of investigating acts of frauds, raids and operations
have presently been enhanced, the SIU Director further added. |
