Evening seminar
An evening seminar on "Environmental management challenges and
approaches in Sri Lanka and Singapore" will be held from 5.15 pm to 7.30
pm on April 25 at Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel Colombo.
This will be presented by MSc in Environmental (MEM) programme of the
National University of Singapore(NUS).
Kent Ridge, Managing Director and the programme facilitator Janaka
Kumarasinghe said this free seminar is a unique programme presented by
the Masters in Environmental Management programme (MEM), jointly
supported by six faculties of NUS including Business, Arts and Social
Science, Engineering, Science, Law, and YLL School of Medicine and
hosted by the School of Design and Environment of the National
University of Singapore, demonstrating the importance of a
multi-disciplinary approach to education in the field of environment
management.
The seminar will be very useful to many stakeholders in Sri Lankan
including government authorities, private organizations, universities
and non and inter-governmental organizations who are faced with many
environmental related issues.
Adjunct Assistant Professor School of Design and Environment, NUS, Dr
Asanga Gunawansa will speak on "Sustainable development in the post
conflict Sri Lanka," Chairperson MEM Programme Management Committee,
NUS, Associate Professor Lye Lin Heng will speak on " Environmental Law,
Policy, Governance and Management- Innovative Approaches from Singapore"
while Professor George Ofori of NUS will chair the session.
The seminar will highlight national, regional and international
perspectives, drawing upon the expertise from established environmental
agencies and institutions both locally and globally.
