‘Govt will strengthen free health service’

President stresses need to guard against non-communicable diseases:

The government always stands to safeguard and strengthen the free health service while implementing qualitative and timely measures such as free education, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said. The President was addressing a meeting at Temple Trees yesterday to create awareness among the people on leading a healthy lifestyle and forming a wholesome society.

LLRC report:

Only feasible proposals will be considered - DEW

The US - sponsored resolution on the implementation of the recommendations stipulated in Sri Lanka’s own Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) report is non-binding because bringing out the report was the state’s responsibility, Human Resources Senior Minister D E W Gunasekera told the Daily News, adding that only Sri Lanka can resolve its ethnic question.
