Businessman's son rescued
Serunuwara Police in a special operation on
Saturday rescued a 22 year old son of a prominent businessman who
had been abducted at Vakarei, for a ransom demand of Rs 30 million.
The Police also arrested four persons connected with the crime and
seized the van that was used in the abduction. The abductors,
residents of Serunuwara, had demanded Rs 30 million from the
victim's father to free his son.

Three nabbed with illegal fishing equipment
Naval personnel attached to SLNS Gajaba of the
North-central Naval Command arrested three persons who used a number
of non - electric detonators, diving masks and diving fins recently.
Navy sources said they had carried out the raid in the general area
of Narapadu and arrested these persons along with 12 non -
electrical detonators, two diving masks and two pairs of diving
fins.
